CreEper: from the director

CreEper

A note on the play, narratology, literary originality and the treatment of Sanskrit texts

by writer and director Ram Ganesh Kamatham

29th April 2008

In my mind, Vikram and Betal is inextricably linked with Amar Chitra Katha comics. The stories sprang to life in the eerie artwork within each panel, the most memorable being the actual illustrations of Vikram with Betal on his back, journeying through the graveyard.

Perhaps it was a desire to see these powerful images spring to life in a contemporary avatar or perhaps it was just my morbid fascination with the stories that prompted me to pick up the original text and explore it theatrically.
