Arjun’s Dilemma – Douglas J. Cuomo

Composer Douglas J. Cuomo, whose works include the Sex and the City theme tune, recently created this 70 minute opera-oratorio based on the Bhagavad Gita.  The one-act chamber orchestra is a jugalbandi (fusion) of jazz, classical music, monastic chanting and traditional North Indian themes.  An excerpt was performed in May 2006 in New York, and the piece will be presented in full at the world premiere on 22nd – 24th August 2008 at Pepsico Theater, Purchase, in New York.  A recording is due for release on 1st July.
