Geeta Chandran (above), a renowned Bharatnatyam dancer and choreographer and recent recipient of the Padma Shri, tries to exonerate India’s most notorious step-mother in this new production. Working from Valkmiki’s Ramayana, she has gathered material which she believes shows that far from orchestrating Ram’s exile Kaikeyi was instead the victim of nasty patriarchal politics. Chandran works with Rashid Ansari on the dance elements for this solo performance, with the music by Arjun Sen.
The show will be presented on August 25th and 26th in New Delhi. More details to follow.
